The Future of AI and Video

Artificial intelligence has completely revamped the way developers work by improving productivity levels, quality, and improved speeds. In today’s time and age, AI algorithms can be used to improve almost every aspect of life that can be automated, so how does this impact the world of video making? As far as AI is concerned, the world of video editing is not too far behind.

The most significant example of how AI is changing the world of video is video editing software. While the human element is crucial and cannot be replaced with AI, what it does is engage workers and help them with video editing software. This technology can learn from its mistakes and improve its decision-making skills, which happens relatively slowly for humans. This may seem rather frightening for those that rely on their video editing jobs, but they must know that AI simply cannot replace what they bring to the table but rather help take it one step further.

Benefits of AI In the Video Editing World

What may seem repetitive to do for people, can be done with AI, such as determining the best angles for shots, and edits, applying transitions and filters onto video content, changing formatting and framing, arranging footage based on your needs, and learning from your videos all at the same time to improve its suggestions to you down the line.

Curating Video Footage

Some of the first artificial intelligence applications in the video editing world were first seen in 2016 when IMB used the Watson supercomputer to help create a trailer for Morgan, a horror thriller. This supercomputer used machine learning to assess trailers and use that learned knowledge to curate just the right sentences from the footage that would make for a good video trailer.

It represented just what artificial intelligence can do to help in video content curation. This would take the average video creator hours and hours to do while watching each piece of video content. That time was effectively cut in less than half with the help of AI. Yes, it cannot be denied that the human element plays a significant role, but how? Video editors can instead focus their energies on the grand scheme of things and work on the final product of the trailer or the film to ensure that the computer has not missed essential elements, which is possible. After all, a computer is just a computer, and it simply cannot have the years of experience that come with one being a video editor.

Intelligent and Automated Tools

Artificial intelligence can interpret video footage and thereby use tools such as color calibration, object elimination, picture stabilization, and visual effects. It takes sophisticated algorithms to be able to do this. And eventually, down the line, they might ultimately become obsolete with AI taking their place. Platforms such as Adobe’s Sensei have already begun working hard to offer consumers AI-assisted video editing capabilities, and other editing software are soon to follow in its footsteps.

So, are you ready to take your video editing skills to the next level by incorporating artificial intelligence into the mix? It is time now!
